Summer Field Assistants Wanted — Yosemite

Yosemite’s Plant Ecology Progam seeks field assistants for the park’s alpine bee inventory project during summer 2023. In collaboration with the USDA Bee Lab we are conducting an inventory and initiating a DNA barcode library of alpine bees in the park.

A project assistant, 1-2 crew leads and 2-4 field assistants will sample bees and plants in remote high elevation habitats throughout Yosemite’s alpine. The work will involve multiple-day backpack trips into remote locations, hiking up to 10 miles per day and carrying up to a 40 lb pack in steep, uneven (spectacular!) terrain.

The announcement is open on USA Jobs through January 23rd, but it may close sooner than the advertised date due to the application limit of 250 applicants.

Additional duties are shown below. Please contact kimiora_ward@nps.gov with any questions, and please distribute widely!
