Even though hurricane forecasts are notoriously unpredictable (and maybe because they ARE so unpredictable!), I’m taking the proactive step of canceling Saturday’s proposed trip to the Eastern Shore (Eastern Neck NWR). Even though it might be sunny and beautiful Saturday morning, both here and in Rock Hall, it could just as easily be blustery, very windy, and cloudy. And I don’t want any of us to get tangled up in evacuation traffic coming west from the beaches Saturday afternoon across the Bay Bridge.
And because we don’t know how long effects of the system will linger into Sunday, we won’t use Sunday as a rain date.
Stay safe, all, but keep a lookout next week in nectar patches for Southern rarities that might be lofted north by Hurricane Irene’s winds!
