May in the Field with WABC

We’re hoping for better weather this month for WABC field trips and other activities. There’ve been some changes in the schedule, so check the revised schedule using the link in the nav bar at the top of this page.

Here are some highlights:

May 14 — WABC will go to Green Ridge State Forest, 10 am – 3 pm, Flintstone MD. Organizer: Rick Borchelt Meet up at Forest Headquarters. Target species for this trip are silvery blues, cobweb skipper, and Appalachian tiger swallowtails.
May 15– Sky Meadows State Park Butterfly Walk, Delaplane VA. 1-3 pm. Leaders: Mary Alexander and Steve Malone, (202-257-5377)

May 22 –ANS field trip to Linden VA, Blue Mountain [Audubon Naturalist Society field trip; register at http://www.audubonnaturalist.org]

May 28-29–WABC had planned a weekend excursion, but many of our members asked that we reconsider holding this event over a holiday weekend when they were already scheduled for family or other events. Meantime, a number of WABC members who also are active in the Maryland Native Plant Society opted to join MNPS and the PA Native Plant Society for an exploration of Tannersville Bog and environs in Tannersville, PA. Details at http://www.mdflora.org/events.html?eventId=312520&EventViewMode=EventDetails.

Join us for these and other programs this summer!
